WKSU STAFF HONORED BY OHIO PROFESSIONAL WRITERS, INC.

WKSU was recognized with 18 awards from Ohio Professional Writers, Inc., the state affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW), April 23 at the Pump House in Ashland during the organization’s annual spring convention. WKSU staff members were honored with 12 first-place awards, which are now automatically entered into the national Communications Contest sponsored by NFPW.

•     Prepared Report, Public Relations Director Bob Burford for "Pete Best"

•     Special Programming, Reporter/Producer Michelle Chyatte for "Her Husband, His Wife, Their Kidney"

•     Special Reporting Series, Reporter/Producer Vivian Goodman for "Ethnic Migration"

•     Personal Column on the Air, Reporter/Producer Julie Grant for "Packing Heat"

•     Interview, Goodman for "Eugenia Zuckerman"

•     Best Presentation, "Morning Edition" Host Leonard Will

Marketing/Public Relations Categories:

•     Single-sheet Poster, Burford for "38th Kent State Folk Festival"

•     Annual Report, external, Director of Communications Pamela R. Anderson for "WKSU Annual Report 2003-2004"

•     News or Feature Release – single release, feature, WKSU Marketing Associate Ann VerWiebe for "Vincent Duffy Named WKSU Director of Programming"

•     News or Feature Release – single release, news, VerWiebe for "WKSU Shakes Up Saturdays Beginning January 8"

•     News or Feature Releases – multiple releases, VerWiebe for "FolkAlley.com"

Anderson also received a first place award for Creative Verse.

•     Guest Commentator Diana Keough for "Naked"
