URYCKI AND GOODMAN ON TOUR WITH THE CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA

URYCKI AND GOODMAN ON TOUR WITH THE CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA
FIRST AUDIO FEATURES ALREADY AIRED FROM LUCERNE ON WKSU
Wednesday August 24, 2005

WKSU's award-winning Mark Urycki and Vivian Goodman are on the road with The Cleveland Orchestra as one of Northeast Ohio’s most-prominent cultural organizations travels to Europe to perform in Switzerland, Germany and the United Kingdom. The veteran reporters will produce daily stories on the performances and the experiences of orchestra members, as well as presenting vivid descriptions of the host cities.

While their subjects sleep, Urycki and Goodman create reports using sound captured during the day on and laptop computers in their hotel rooms. Edited stories are posted using digital FTP uploads, providing broadcast-quality and timely programming to regional listeners. Urycki last traveled with the Orchestra to Europe on tour in 2003 and he sent back reports during the presidential race from the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

Along with audio reports, aired during WKSU’s broadcasts of NPR's "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered," the WKSU web site also offers photos (including of recently flooded Lucerne) and diary entries from Urycki and Goodman. Visit online at www.wksu.org/classical/eurotrip/. WKSU's coverage of The Cleveland Orchestra's European tour is made possible with support from Wayside Furniture, FirstMerit Bank and Laurel Lake.

WKSU broadcasts NPR & Classical Music at 89.7 FM, and is a service of Kent State University. WKSU programming is also heard on WKRW 89.3 FM in Wooster, WKRJ 91.5 FM in Dover/New Philadelphia, WKSV 89.1 FM in Thompson and WNRK 90.7 FM in Norwalk. The WKSU web site is www.wksu.org.
