In July, M.L. Schultze joined WKSU as the station's news director. Schultze came to WKSU from the Canton Repository where she served as managing editor beginning in 1998. A 1978 graduate of Syracuse University, Schultze worked with WKSU Program Director Mark Urycki at a Canton radio station soon after graduation. The magazine journalism and political science major moved to the Repository as education reporter in 1982, becoming special projects and Sunday editor in the mid-1990s.

WKSU General Manager Al Bartholet says, "We are excited to be moving into a new era with Schultze guiding our award-winning news staff. She is extremely well respected and will be a welcome addition to the station's management team."

Originally from the Philadelphia area, Schultze lives in Canton with her son and her husband, Rick Senften, the recently retired special projects editor at the Repository. Their daughter works in Washington, D.C.

WKSU broadcasts NPR & Classical Music at 89.7 FM, and is a service of Kent State University. WKSU programming is also heard on WKRW 89.3 FM in Wooster, WKRJ 91.5 FM in Dover/New Philadelphia, WKSV 89.1 FM in Thompson, WNRK 90.7 in Norwalk, W298BA 107.5 FM in Boardman, and W239AZ 95.7 FM in Ashland.
