Carolina Chocolate Drops to perform at Cain Park

With their 2010 Grammy (Best Traditional Folk Album) for Genuine Negro Jig, Carolina Chocolate Drops have introduced mainstream audiences to a nearly lost song form — Black String-Band music. The group's website states CCD provides "a modern take on a traditional sound," and the quartet's music is known for adding an earnest zeal to the classic folk genre.

CCD's newest album, Leaving Eden, was produced by Nashville stalwart Buddy Miller and released Feb. 28, 2012.

A hit at the Kent State Folk Festival, the Carolina Chocolate Drops combines banjos, fiddles, bones and spirited vocals with their fresh, modern take on traditional tunes to Cain Park's Evans Amphitheater on Friday, July 20 at 8p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase on Cain Park's website.
