Christmas at Stan Hywet Hall & Gradens was a festive time for the Seiberling family. Now, each year, the grounds and Manor House are brought to life at the holidays with thousands of lights and yards of tinsel for Deck the Hall. A regional tradition, Deck the Hall combines the history of one of Akron's most prominent families with the beauty of the winter season and wonderful music.
After driving through a halo of lights and wondering at the twinkling landscape surrounding the scene, guests can purchase hot gingerbread cookies and pose for pictures in front of the Courtyard Christmas tree before strolling up the walk to the Manor House. This year, 15 rooms have been lavishly decorated along the themes of popular holiday songs. From traditional carols ("The Twelve Days of Christmas," "Deck the Halls") and family favorites ("Silver Bells," "Winter Wonderland") to contemporary hits ("Blue Christmas," "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas") and beyond, visitors will discover more about these beloved songs as they are captured by the charming decorations!
Each evening at 5:30 p.m., Santa himself will turn on the lights before moving on to his workshop where he greats guests for the remainder of the evening. Regional favorite Mr. Jingeling entertains a new generation of children in the Corbin Conservatory. Deck the Hall is open from 5 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 23-25, 29-30 and Dec. 1-2, 6-9, 13-23, 26-30. Mr. Jingeling will not appear on Dec. 16.
