For generations, children (and their parents) have been captured by the wonder and the magic of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. The epitome of a Christmas ballet, the story centers on young Clara and a broken toy that comes to life in her dreams -- taking her on a dance-filled adventure to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy and battle the Mouse King.
This holiday season, The Nutcracker is performed on stages throughout Northeast Ohio, allowing everyone the chance to dress up for the ballet. Productions include:
The Cleveland Orchestra with The Joffrey Ballet (PlayhouseSquare): Nov. 29 - Dec. 2 www.playhousesquare.org
Wayne Center for the Arts (Wooster High School Performing Arts Center): Nov. 30 - Dec. 2 www.wayneartscenter.org
Canton Ballet (Canton Palace Theatre): Dec. 7 - 9 www.cantonballet.com
