Ohio Wednesday, November 21, 2012 "Illegal" gambling in Ohio Some state politicians are concerned about slot machines in storefronts by WKSU's STATEHOUSE CORRESPONDENT BILL COHEN |
 Reporter Bill Cohen | | |
In The Region: For several years now, they’ve sprouted up across Ohio in storefronts, malls, convenience stores, and gas stations. First, they were called skill games. Then, later, they morphed into sweepstakes or internet cafes.
But whatever the name, they involve video games that look like slot machines and critics have labeled them “illegal gambling.”
Ohio legislators keep complaining about the operations, but the lawmakers have done little to stop them. Now, though, as Statehouse Correspondent Bill Cohen reports, there’s a renewed push to take action. |
| Some key Ohio lawmakers are sending signals that during the last month of the 2-year legislative session, lawmakers may crackdown on storefronts that many suspect are hosting illegal gambling. |
