Crime and Courts Wednesday, January 9, 2013 Akron girl accused of assaulting a teacher and another student The now 14-year-old's arm was allegedly then broken by a police officer assigned to the school by WKSU's OZIE IKUENOBE | Reporter Ozie Ikuenobe | | |
In The Region: A 14-year-old girl whose arm was reportedly broken by an Akron police officer is now accused of assault.
Akron police say the girl hit a student at Litchfield Middle School with a binder, then twice assaulted a teacher who tried to break it up.
She’s been charged with felonious assault and a misdemeanor assault charge.
Her attorney says it was the girl’s second day at the school after being transferred from Jennings Community Learning Center, where her arm was broken last fall.
Surveillance video shows the then-13-year-old being pushed against a set of lockers before being placed in an arm lock by the officer.
Akron police say the officer involved has been temporarily reassigned pending an investigation, but he is not under suspension. |
