Health and Medicine Thursday, January 31, 2013 Ohio's Gov. Kasich hints he may say "yes" to expanded Medicaid Kasich: For the state and for individuals, the feds deal may be too good to turn down by WKSU's STATEHOUSE CORRESPONDENT BILL COHEN |
 Reporter Bill Cohen | | |
In The Region: Gov. John Kasich has not yet announced whether he’ll push for Ohio to expand Medicaid to more adults. But he’s hinting that he might. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports. |
If Ohio covers low-income adults up to 138 percent of the poverty level, the feds will cover most of the cost.
Gov. Kasich says he disagrees with many aspects of federal health care overhaul.
“But this is a different issue. This is about people who are at the lower economic end, (and) a government that’s proposing to pay 100 percent of those costs for three years. Then it drops to 90 percent.”
But he notes that for now, the feds are covering only 62 percent.
Still, he has a concern: Can you trust Washington to keep any promise that they make?” |
