Economy and Business Thursday, January 31, 2013 Sherwin-Williams reports record earnings 2012 also saw 70 new stores in North America; and that predates by WKSU's KABIR BHATIA |

In The Region: Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams posted record earnings of almost $10 billion in 2012, according to numbers released today. Spokesman Mike Conway says that’s tied to a resurgence in housing and home improvement markets. |
“There has been some pent-up demand over the last couple of years because of the economic challenges. But people are starting to open up and redecorate, and in doing so they’re coming into our stores and buying more gallons of paint.”
Conway cites the high demand as one reason for 70 new stores in North America, two in Northeast Ohio. Sherwin-Williams announced a deal to buy Consorcio-Comex, Mexico’s leading paint producer, for $2.4 billion last November.
