Ohio Thursday, January 31, 2013 Cleveland's historic West Side Market remains closed until further notice The cafe opened today and the produce house should open Friday morning by WKSU's KABIR BHATIA |

In The Region: TheWest Side Market is reopening piece-by-piece after a fire early Wednesday morning. The cafe opened today, and the produce house will open Friday at 7 a.m. But most of the stalls are closed until further notice for cleaning and inventory.
The market is owned by the City of Cleveland. Spokeswoman Maureen Harper is hoping for repair estimates to finalized tomorrow. |
“As far as we can tell, at this point, most of the damage is soot. There was a crack the occurred in the façade of one of the columns. And that will be able to be repaired. But at this point, we have not uncovered any structural damage.”
The Cleveland Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the blaze. The Health Department will have to certify the clean-up efforts before the 100-year-old building can re-open. |
