In The Region: Tens of thousands of unemployed Ohioans are continuing to receive over-payments in their monthly government benefit checks. That’s the word from officials at the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Spokesman Ben Johnson says the number of over-payments last year was smaller than in the two previous years, but still, there are many cases. Johnson spoke about the latest numbers with Statehouse Correspondent Bill Cohen. |
That’s Ben Johnson of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. He stresses that officials have been cutting down the number of people receiving over-payments in their unemployment compensation checks.
In 2010, he says, there were 150,000 over-payments, but last year, the number was trimmed to 110,000.
Johnson says Ohio is continuing to send unemployment compensation over-payments to tens of thousands of Ohioans each year. He added that his agency has cut the number of over-payments over the past two years. He notes that in 2010, there were 150-thousand over-payments, but last year, the number was trimmed to 110-thousand. |
