| One of the more emotional moments of Gov. Kasich’s State of the State speech last night was his recognition of the upcoming anniversary of the deadly shootings at Chardon High School.
Kasich presented the Governor’s Courage Award to teachers and Chardon High School staf, who joined him on stage at the end of his address in Lima.
He commended their efforts to bring peace and understanding to the people of Chardon.

“So that at the end of the day, ... it’s going to make them somehow -- through the tragedy --better for it. "We will remember those who have lost their lives and those who have been injured and we will pray for them, but in the meantime, I’d like to take a second to honor the great staff at Chardon High School for their great work.”
Three students were killed at Chardon High School on Feb. 27, 2012. The school and city will mark the anniversary with a memorial walk and remembrance services. |
