The Ohio Democratic Party says it knows who should run for secretary of state in 2014, and the group is promoting a website to introduce her.

RunNinaRun.org tabs State Sen. Nina Turner as the most likely candidate to oppose Republican Jon Husted in next year's election.

Chris Redfern, chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party, says the website was launched to allow Ohioans to get to know Turner, who represents the 25th District, which covers parts of Cuyahoga and Lake counties.

“No closed doors, no back room cigars – this is about somebody who has served as a member of the state Senate and Cleveland City Council – somebody who has been an outspoken advocate for voter rights.”

The website is paid for by the Friends of Nina Turner,Turner’s fundraising committee from her 2010 state senate campaign. She ran unopposed.

A spokeswoman for Turner says there is no timetable for an official announcement on whether she’ll run, but Redfern says he is confident she will.

A spokesman for Secretary of State Husted had no comment on Turner’s potential candidacy.
