Former Congressman and state Rep. John Boccieri is returning to Columbus.

The Ohio House Democratic Caucus chose Boccieri to fill the 59th House District seat vacated by former state Rep. Ron Gerberry. He resigned in August after an ethics investigation. Boccieri also served one term in Congress before losing his seat in 2010.

Ottawa County Commissioner Steven Arndt was chosen to fill a vacancy in the 89th House District after former Rep. Steven Kraus was found guilty of felony theft.

Kraus served in that role only a few months after defeating the long time state lawmaker and former Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern last November.
