Emma Keating is a junior journalism major with a minor in political science. Between working for the Kent Stater, TV2 and Cleveland Magazine, she has experience in newspaper, magazine, multimedia and broadcast journalism, though writing will always be her one true love. Keating hopes to use her journalism to give a voice to the voiceless in her future career, eventually moving to Washington, D.C.

The Akron School of Practical Nursing is going to be getting a new home.

Stark State College is taking over the operation of the program, which has been run by the Akron Public Schools for 67 years. Robyn Steinmetz, the director of marketing and communications for Stark State, says the college is looking forward to adding the program.

Gov. John Kasich joined a democratic and an independent governor at a press conference in Washington to push for healthcare reform.

Kasich, along with Colorado Democrat John Hickenlooper and Alaska Independent Bill Walker rolled out a seven-page document laying out possible fixes for Obamacare.

The 13-year-old who shot himself at Jackson Middle School yesterday has died.

Jackson Police Chief Mark Brink held a news conference announcing Keith Simons died this afternoon at an Akron hospital. Brink says authorities are not ruling the death a suicide at this point.

The chief says they are still investigating how Simons was able to get a .22 rifle onto his bus and into the school.

Supporters of the Perry Nuclear Power Plant are holding a rally tomorrow (Saturday) in an attempt to keep the plant operating.

FirstEnergy has been looking to get out of the nuclear power generating business because of competition from newer and cheaper natural gas plants.
