Canton Museum of Art

The Canton Museum of Art did not know exactly what it would get when it put out a call for artists to mail in small pieces of artwork. The museum ended up with far more than it expected: at least 220 submissions.

At most museums, what you see on display is often just a fraction of an entire collection. An exhibit at The Canton Museum of Art through the end of October is taking a challenge and turning it into an opportunity to show much, much more.

A ceramic art show at the Canton Museum of Art evokes bitter memories of shuttered plants and lost jobs.

It also celebrates the courage of those who lived through the decline of manufacturing throughout the Midwest.

“Blue Collar” is the work of two sculptors who grew up in a small Indiana factory town.

Kelly Phelps chairs the art department at Xavier University in Cincinnati, and Kyle Phelps is on the arts faculty at the University of Dayton.

They are identical twins.
