There’s a new leadership team at the Nightlight Cinema, and they say they want to hear from the public about what kinds of films they want to see in downtown Akron.

Assistant Director Eugene Weaver has been tapped to be the Nightlight’s new executive director. He’s joined by Brittany Dobish in the new position of artistic director. She says she’s already trying to learn more about what kinds of films Akron audiences want to see.

The Cleveland Cinematheque’s 8th Annual “Cleveland Cult Film Festival” kicks off this weekend, and the theme this year is “Return of the Reviled.”

In various films over the next two weekends, the series will features works from the writers of “Heaven Can Wait,” the director of “RoboCop,” and stars like John Travolta and Jennifer Lopez.

 The Cleveland Arts Prize is honoring Cleveland Cinematheque founder John Ewing tomorrow night at the theater’s new location. The event includes the world premiere of a documentary on Ewing’s life.

John Ewing founded the Cinematheque in 1986 and moved it late last year to a new, state-of-the-art facility at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
