Kent State University and Cleveland State University are sharing a $400,000 grant to help commercialize research with real world benefits.

The funding comes from $10 million in grants from the Ohio Third Frontier Commission, which tries to give a boost to the state’s economy through startups and technology companies.

A new study commissioned by the City of Green says that routing the NEXUS pipeline through the city would cost $123 million in property and income taxes over the next 50 years.

The study conducted by Cleveland State University focused on the fiscal and economic impact the pipeline would have on the city’s schools, businesses and day-to-day operations.

Cleveland State University could soon receive $7.5 million  from the state’s capital budget to create a new School of Film, Television and Interactive Media.

The funds proposed in the budget would be used to construct a new building for the school on the university’s downtown campus.

Once established, the school will allow for greater collaboration with the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.
