Volunteering at WKSU is a great community service that you can provide to your favorite public radio station. Volunteers get an inside look at the workings of the station while representing WKSU in the community and increasing knowledge about the work we do daily on- and off-air.
We are always looking for dedicated and energetic listeners to work with our staff on a number of projects.
NEXT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Thank You Calls to Members, March 21-22, 10:30 AM-12:30 PM and 1:30 PM-3:30 PM: WKSU Broadcast Center Kent: Volunteers are needed to make brief thank you calls to listeners who donate during the Spring Fund Drive. Lunch will be provided! Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 330-346-5677 to sign up!
Please enter your information below and staff will contact you for our next volunteer opportunity.
Promotional and Special Events:
Along with producing community events, WKSU staff can often be found behind a table at festivals, fairs and performances throughout the region. Volunteer by taking a turn with staff members at events. Your help can be checking in guests, talking to people at a table, running sound cable, assisting at receptions or other duties where we need a friendly person or a second pair of hands.
Your volunteer time makes it easier to connect with new and current listeners and spread the word about WKSU programming.
Member Calls and General Office Duties:
Everyone likes a thank you - including donors to WKSU! Come to the Broadcast Center during scheduled hours and call recent givers. We also are happy to use your assistance at the station with general administrative duties.
Hosting Listening Parties:
Listening to the radio can be a solitary activity, but it's more enlightening when it's shared with a group. Pick a WKSU show to highlight and plan a party - in your livingroom or our main conference room. We will help you with additional materials to make the event memorable.
Leading Station Tours:
Be a WKSU insider and lead tours of our Broadcast Center at Kent State University. We will train you and give you an interesting list of facts to share with groups such as Boy Scouts, Tiger Cubs and student groups of all ages.
Social Media Squad:
Help spread the word about WKSU events and station initiatives with your tweets and posts on Instagram and Facebook. Join us at special behind-the-scenes meet-ups to find out more about WKSU and hang out with fellow Squad members.
